new camera from Canon

if you still haven't woke up from your slumber, let me tell you, Canon has unleash a new beast into the rough ring of professional DSLR lineup.

Let me present to you, the Canon 1D X.(For Xtreme... i guess)

I'm not going to talk detail about the spec here, because we all know that's going to be boring. So if you deeply interested just click HERE.

Opinion

My opinion? It kick ass for breakfast, even in lunch. Supper? Still doing that thing. The new and bigger sensor, the monstrous fps, the incredible 61 autofocus point, HD video and bla bla bla, it will be perfect monster to kill the King of ISO, the Nikon D3S. But who knows what would be Nikon wildcard?

and just a simple video showing the 14 frame per second action of the new 1D X

So, For $6800 USD, you tell me, is it worth it?

Micro four third

I've been craving for a new camera, and it's a micro four third camera. So what is this actually? and why it is different from my current DSLR?

Micro four third.

So, the question is, what is it really? To simply explain, its a the size of the sensor. In which are explained by the image below. The sensor is obviously a little smaller than the current DSLR which mainly used APS-C sized sensor and compared to full frame bodies(35mm) a lot smaller.

Right. So the sensor is small. Thus, i have to sacrifice some pixel, depth of field and also light sensitivity. Because the sensor is small, there are quite drawback of using this system rather than the normal APS-C/ common DSLR type sensor.

But lately, i found myself to be more of a people photography, in which i enjoy a smaller, lighter, easier to use system and yes, micro four third gave me all. and because of that i want to buy a new camera with micro four third sensor in it.

Sexy ain't it?

I got so say, i did lost my lust for photography ever since my first DSLR was stolen along with all of it's counterpart(lens, flashgun etc.) It felt different shooting with a different DSLR especially when you really have deep connection with the previous one.

But now, i think the desire is slowly coming back. I pray to God that in time, i will be fully recovered. I want to take more photo's, i want to join many event and take photo of each and every event in UTP. I want to be the old me.

but for now, i will still search for the missing 'lust'.

A List

For now there only two, two thing that i want most for photography dedicated item.

Fujifilm X100

Why i wanted this freaking awesome looking/ rangefinder style/ fixed lens camera? For instant its the looks, the image quality and also the wide yet fast fujinon lens. I have been wanted a wide angle lens for quite some time now, but for street photo i just don't think DSLR is up for the challenge. Don't get me wrong. The image quality, the control and the ability to take wide ranges of photo with a DSLR is undeniably enough to take street photo, but there is one thing, this one thing that make DSLR wasn't that good of a street camera. You guessed it. The size.

I love how people take street photo using smaller cameras, yes they do attract less attraction which is good. But to simply take a point and shoot camera wasn't really a good thing to do.

Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 HSM

I'm such a sucker for telephoto lens. But sadly up to now, i haven't have a fast telephoto up in my bag. Like all my long ranged photo turns out blur and not sharp, just enough to give you a 'meh' impression.

p/s: third item

Polaroid sx-70 Rainbow

I have been out of shape lately. I haven't touch my beloved DSLR for what, 3 weeks? Damn, she must have been lonely. Sorry.

I hope my hiatus will over soon.

Run away

From F/2.8

Do you ever felt like running away from everything, i mean everything. You friends, assignment, your duty to study, your meeting, and all those stuff. Sometimes i do. Because i would like to have some peace of mind over some issue.

But have you ever thing of other people while running away? Have you thought of how they will suffer if you are not there, how many problem they have to settled alone?

Sometimes we need to think of others but always put yourself first. Because no one will put yourself first if not you.

passionate obstacle.

Just now i have realize something. Something that i have realize but did not thoroughly accept. But now i can fully accept it. I have indeed, lost a little interest in photography.

Wait, no i'm not those people that only get into photography for fame, style etc. It just that since i have lost my previous gear, all of it, i have a little less faith. My crappy zoom lens, although not of good optical quality, the reach provided is just sensational. Something that is very useful for me for now.

As for that, i have make a decision to get as much many to get a decent zoom lens since i currently have none. I believe have limited reach is one of the reason why i have been neglecting the photography world, i know it just an excuse, but as from tonight, insyaallah, i will try my best to forget about the past, give no more excuses and keep on improving my photography skills and also increase my upload rate.

Please do pray for me, to keep on this interest in photography :)

White background photography tutorial( super easy)

Despite knowing how to do this very simple technique when I first start photography(which is a year ago I guess), Until few days back I began trying this technique. The only reason I haven't done this kind of stuff is because of my laziness.

So if you are wondering on how to set get photo like above, just scroll down for a very simple 4 steps and also tips and tricks so that you can start right away!

Step 1

Get your hands on few blank white paper, in my example I use 4 pieces. A sellotape and a scissor/knife.

From F/2.8

Step 2

Using those sellotape, stick 2 paper onto each other. Well you can do 3 or 4 depending on how big you want your set up is. But you have to be remind, this set up is only good for small stuff. Don't go around and do a big setup for models etc.

From F/2.8

turn around the paper.

Step 3

From F/2.8

Set up you paper as shown. Oh! you must have a wall to stick one of the white paper. Notice the paper must be set slightly bent/ curve between the wall and the ground.

Step 4

There's no step 4! I'm just finishing up the quota. Nah, not really. Step 4 is recycle. Don't just threw away all those precious tree. Use em. Or if you want to save it for next usage save them. Mother nature baby!

Tips

1. If you have natural light, use em. Open those window. Let the light comes in. If it's night, just open your room light.

2. Flashgun. Although you are not necessary to use one, having one is really beneficial. Having more than one with remote trigger also allows you to be more creative with the lighting.

3. Shoot RAW. Yes. Seriously. With RAW editing your exposure, fill light is easier. Not to mention you got that extra detail compared to jpeg.

4. Macro lens. I would really love to try this using a macro lens.

5. Tripod. If you setting this up on a table it is better if you can use a tripod for more stable and sharper shot. Oh not to forget, turn off those Image stabilization, vibration reduction or what ever you call it.

6. Shoot. Don't just take 5 photo and done with it. Take many. With different angles. Unless you are shooting film that is.

*edited*

one more tips in using flashgun. Direct the light to the ceiling. If you focus your light from infront, shadows will turn up and that ruin the photo.

Again this set up is only good for small size stuff. You dont want to take a model photo using this set up. It's going to be hard work sticking up all those piece of paper. But if you want to do for the model, whether you buy your own studio or they call as whiteroom or get a very big piece of white paper(you can ask those fashion photographer/ studio owner).

I guess that is all. This is the first of god will many other photography tutorial that I will share in this blog. I hope you guys try this simple technique and show me your result :) Stay tuned for more tutorials :)

p/s: always do a close check up if there is visible line on the background. If there is, use cloning stamp tool or any other techniques you familar with. Yeah i notice there is visible line on some of photo above. Lazy ass.

Crumpler 7 million Dollar Home (Review)

From F/2.8

What is the Crumpler 7 million Dollar home anyway? Is it a house that cost 7 million dollar our is it a house that looks like 7 million dollar one but does not account to that many? Well, both answer are wrong. The Crumpler is company that sells luggage. You know like Tamrac, Lowepro, Sensonite, and Vanguard. These are the big big company that sells great quality bags, in my case, Photography bags.

Design

From F/2.8

In term of design, well the bag definitely have some style on it. Compared to other bag such as Lowepro or Tamrac, Crumpler is far too ahead in term of design. Well, this is because other bag companies only focus on the quality and the protection it gave to very very expensive camera equipment. Maybe that is what they have to pay to lose the style. Maybe

From F/2.8

The bag have almost non-camera bag looks at all. So people won't straight away identify you as a photographer if you use this bag. Definitely a great bag for paparazzi eh?

Performance

So, it have look but do it have protection? Does it do a good job in protecting the camera gear? Well, rest assured, the inside is filled with soft padding to absorb all shock whatsoever. Although I found that the bottom of the bag wasn't that thick enough. Otherwise its all good, nice and soft.

From F/2.8
A- main compartment to store a camera body + kit lens
B- 2 slot for lenses or flasguns.
C- Small compartment to put up back up memory card, battery, filter eg.
D- another rather bag compartment. Only good to store documents and such.
p/s: Theres actually 2 more small space beside compartment B, yeah the orange one. Good to store charger or drinks.

The interior as you can see, very eye-catching. With that very vibrance colour no way you will miss your gear. I don't know if its easy to get dirty of what but i'm sure as long as you don't put dirt or rubbish inside the bag, its going to look just fine.

How does it feels?

Superb. The shoulder pad is very comfortable but after 2 or so hour of lugging it around, the pain will start to come. But I don't see that's a problem. I mean come on, no such bag can can make the pain gone. Sooner or later it will come. Just the longer the better. In this case I think 2 hour is quite some time.

What I like :D

-Very comfortable shoulder pad.
-It got style.
-More than enough tripod slot to hang your tripod.
-Easy to reach item (you can choose to use the clip or those awfully noisy strap)
-Large compartment.
-It got style. What already?
-Many colour to choose from.
-Hide your photographer identity.
-Very nice padded compartment

What I do not like. :(

- Not water resistance. (It can withstand weather e.g rain/wind etc but if you put it in water, goodbye)
-No extra pad( to make up for more compartment)
-No rain cover
-Pocket are too big. (although a good thing, sometimes we need small ones, you now to put batteries and such)
-Not so thick bottom

So there you go. My full review on it. So far I have no complains about this bag. I love it. Although because of this bag, my budget for the holiday fails. Nevertheless im very much satisfy with this bag. So if you're looking for a new bag to replace those silly come along with your camera free bag, and you have embrace the photography world and wanted to grow on your equipment, look for no other than Crumpler 7 Million Dollar Home.

Don't worry, i'm not going to change my faith to Nikon. Not yet. This is the new Nikon D7000 my dad just bought to replace his former Canon 450D which now, belongs to me :)

Just brief intro about the camera. The D7000 is the replacement of the well known model from Nikon which is the D90. Despite being an improvement over the D90, the D7000 specification is in par with the top notch Canon 7D. The semi pro lines. So yeah, it's must be a great camera.

Dang! My father also bought the Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 VC which, I have been craving for a long time. It's okay now. I lost interest, well not really, I just got my attention to other thing :)

I run on these

From The lens that WALKS

Despite the ever moody weather here in UTP, I still manage to gather those pieces of courage to get up and went my usual place for jogging. I guess living in a new year make you all fresh again about your purpose. You know, like when you just started a new semester. Or a new job. Of course you still care about the small small stuff.

Hopefully, when the new semester opens, this routine, hopefully I can still do it.
