i haz cool DSLR peoplez!! (sarcastic)

Well if you have been well aware of your surrounding, and if you happen to live among teenagers, then you must have notice the ever increasing amount of people with DSLR. I look at it as a trend now. Really. and not so pleasing one. So why is this happening? Be aware this is not an report of any kind. hehe.

Necessity

As far as I can see, most of people, they don't have a single clue on why they wanted to buy a DSLR. If you want or plan to buy one, ask this question first. Do i need it? and for what? If you does not really have deep pocket sure you will lurk on the internet to see, which DLSR model suits your budget and from there most of you will realize on how to actually buy a DSLR. It is best to look out for tutorial or review on how to buy a DSLR rather than look out for the cheapest one and straight away buy it. Its all about the use of it, not the price although price could be an issue too.

Let me be honest, if you are going to take mostly your own photo and does not give a care on how the settings and you wanted to take video for fun, then feel free to just hit the store and get yourself a point and shoot camera. What is that? The digital camera la. that square thinggie.

better to stick with a digital camera for maximum camwhoring fun ^^

If you did care of how your photo looks, and you like to get creative with photo or video then probably it is best for you to get a DSLR as it gives more control of, almost everything. Oh since now most of new DSLR also offer Video recording it give the video people an opportunity to be more creative because unlike a normal camcoder, it is quite difficult to play with the focusing. But with DSLR, focusing and zooming could be a lot more easier.

Showing off?

Honestly this might hurt some people but i just need to say this. Do you think having DLSR make you looks cool? or even high standard? Lul. BS. From what i observe some people buy a DSLR just to show off. They don't have the necessity for it so why buy it? Don't BS me by saying you want to take full control of the settings because you just don't. Only when the light is out then you struggle to change the settings to some mode you can even spell right so that you can take a good picture. but oh wait, you pop the pop-up flash straight away do ya? Bad idea. (unless if you know to set the intensity then its okay.)

POP UP FLASH? D'OH

(Facebook profile pic). normal. (Facebook profile pic WITH DSLR). OMAIGOD COOLNESS.

I've seen those many times already. Yeah yeah I even did it myself, well many of the photographers also do the same thing. Why? Because photographer, unlike normal people they tend to have the least, sometimes none photo of them self under normal condition. Get me? That why most of the photographer take their own photo, well sometimes they ask help from another. and in the photography world, there are some that like to show off thier gears. And some like to poison them self by looking at other people gear and get jealous. Sometimes its good sometimes it does not. So showing off? Are you?

affordable?

If you look back in the old day, DSLR, (occay, there are no letter D in the term) SLR are only owns by the serious enthusiast such as journalist, reporter, and etc. There not quite many average people own it for its such price and it is not actually small. But nowadays, as the world is advancing, DSLR are a more affordable. With only RM1.7 K you can get a basic level DSLR, not like the old day when you need atleast 2 or 3 K to get one. and to normal people that is not really worth it. and before people hate the bulky size of it. Like my friend Amanina who mind you like to take picture of herself, she pretty much hate DSLR and she does not even understand why people shell out plenty sum of money for it. in the end of the day it the same photo. Well, i already try to explain to her, but i don't know if she buy it. And i don't think I should do a post on why DSLR are million times better than a p&s.

So cheaper DSLR so more people buying it?

or just PURE ARTS?

DSLR let you take full control of the lens aperture, the sensitivity of the sensor, the exposure and lots of other technical stuff. and by utilizing all this setting, people can expand their creativity. and for that reason why many serious enthusiast prefer to get hand on these big bulky monster to get their jobs done, easier and better. If you want to get creative, buying a DSLR is you best move.

Conclusion

I'm confused. really am confused. Someone that never into arts then suddenly interested on buying a DSLR. for what reason really? These what triggers me to make this post. Was it for fame? for name? or for fun? I don't know, people have their reason but no matter what the reason are, make sure it is a good choice. A choice that you will not regret. because if you do, you are just wasting your precious money. As for the future I hope only serious people own DSLR while the non-serious just play with your P&s camera will ya!?

If you know me well , when people ask question such as what DSLR he or she need to buy, i will always ask the purpose first, then the whole process of choosing going to be easier. I do encourage those who love to learn it. you don't need DSLR to learn, to me it is best to learn first the basic, get a camera and practice what you have learn. that is the best learning method :)

All and all, if you into photography, do continue! don't look at this post as a distraction. If you have interest then let it be. Explore, find opporutnities, who knows, there are great future in photography? Who knew? National Geographic someday? :)

and one more thing. Great camera makes a quality photo, great photographer makes a great photo. normal P&s also can shoot nice photo you know.

p/s: study week people. turn on the study mode. :)

photography: work, hobby or just plain fun?

Sometimes I ask myself, why did I take photography as one of my major interest in life? Sometimes I wonder the reason behind me buying all sort of gadget for my camera. Sometimes I stunned when asked why I like photography so much, i spent a lot of my saving money on camera equipment. These question sometimes does not end.

So that is the reason why I make this post. Photograph. Work. hobby or just plain fun??

Work

I started enjoy photography on my first task of taking event photo, which is for the Islamic Studies programme, Down to Earth. That time I discover the excitement, the joy, the fun in taking pictures. The moment where i instruct some of my clique to line up or to pose with certain someone, I love the thrill when I push the trigger and view the LCD screen few moments later. I love it when people rush, well kids basically rush onto me and ask to view the photo of them. That is work. I was assigned to do so by the committee. Despite that, it was fun. I was literally smiling up to my ears(that's sound oddly terrible?)

See me there in white shirt :)

When I'm done with DTE, I continuously look up for availability, chances, opportunities, what ever you may call them, to work as an event photographer. Yes I have done quite a few namely for Dean list award, Trisem carnival and other I can not really remember. It was fun. The attention I get. It's all part of the job.

Hobby

If you are doing something not for other people sake or do it for your own pleasure, its called a hobby. and yeah, taking something as a hobby sometimes does not make you earn some extra cash. Nevertheless, I do photography a lot when I'm at home. Mind you, I did not have any studio, not any kind of studio so indoor photography is something that I rarely do. That is why I like to get out, be on the street and look through my viewfinder. They called it street photography. I called it simply something-better-to-do. If you are photo-geek also, I'm sure you will stumble across the word poison, a term normally used when you look up on reviews, camera related reviews that makes your sense of desire tingling so much you keep on look for other review of the same thing until, well, you are damn jealous of those who own those thing. Like a poison you see.

you never knew what you will encounter on the street.

Ah, I'm going out of the topic. Sorry about that.

Plain fun?

daddy he was having fun :)

How do you define fun? Fun where you are smiling like clown in a party or you just feel a deep feeling of soothing and satisfaction in the inside? Fun can be relative. Even so, I can say doing photography be it for work, hobby or anything else does make myself a little carried away until sometimes, I shed my shy and introvert skin and wear a new outgoing and interactive skin that was kept safely deep inside of me. Anyhow, to me photography is fun. Remember the first time playing your first self installed PC game? Yeah, it's that fun.

So, work, hobby or fun?

To me I would say, all of them. To me I love photography for the work, the hobby and the fun. Its these three factor that makes me still in a deep love with photography despite having more time on Physics concept and question or the upcoming Robocon 2011 competition or the problem in my pathetic love life.

flower?

I hope you can find the true reason why you take photography at the first place. Is it because you wanted to show off your equipment. Or you just wanted to be an important person? Maybe you have other reasons. Nevertheless you reason is, always be mindful that photography is an art. You can call any kids drawing as art, it's just a matter of how meaningful the art is or not. So if photography is meaningful to you, don't stop. Like my Thinking skills lecturer always say "Do what You like, Like what you do. It's the key of happiness."

Why I prefer DIGITAL

Digital, a data that consist of a series of ones and zeros. While that doesn't help in any way explaining what DIGITAL is, let's just think it as something, an object particularly, that have it own mind. Don't assume that all love anything that have to do with digital. Some might have a greater love towards mechanical, something that was used way before the discovery of anything digital and still being used up until nowadays for it convenient and also sense of style.

Digital Photography.

Modern Photography.

Or anything that you prefer to call.

To me personally, I love digital photography very much. This is not another way saying that old type of photography are lame or yes lame, but If this happen to be in the 1900's where the analogue(finally the right term) camera is at it's brightest state, and some how there is already a digital camera, I will without no doubt choosing Digital over the analogue.

Why?

Cheap

It's not that cheap I admit. Standard package with the kit lens might not be a cup of tea to some poeple but then, atleast you don't have to shell out much on film or maintenance. To me saving on the is cheap...maybe.

Style

*nice*

It's a style, trend what ever they called it, to actually hang your digital camera, in which i mean DSLR and micro-third four camera onto your body. But this time around, hanging a SLR or a familiar type of lomo camera sometimes, make you looks cooler. Nevertheless, Digital still rules.

*whew*

Versatile

50mm? 17-50mm? 70-200mm? 100-400mm. You name it. Digital camera now have many range of choice from the simple prime or fixed lens, wide angle lens, fish eye, telephoto, You name it! Monologue? Not that many :/

Yes please!!

Function

Digital win. fullstop.

Post-editing

Lightroom? No please. I'll have one Photoshop and Aperture(apple's version of photoshop)

While I can in fact mumbling all night arguing why Digital is better than analogue. But I don't want to, I have a cat to feed on. Not to mention my camera keeper, Drago. He need a lot's of fresh Artic fish.

Digital or none digital, that doesn't matter. What matter is you. You, not the reader, but you the Photographer. If digital is the best medium for you to express you artistic side, then go on. Same goes to analogue. But in the end of the day, we still have to face the fact that...Digital still rules! :D

p/s: Craving for a new lens already. Urghhhh.

learn, unlearn, relearn.

Learning. It's a never ending journey to any man. No matter which group of age you belong to, learning process won't stop. Just like olding process. Until death do us apart of course.

Again, I manage to absorb this quotation from Pn. Arfah class today. Learn, Unlearn, Relearn. What is the meaning? Basically, it's the learning process. We learn, then we try to understand what we learn then we learn it all over again. To put it in a simpler word, it like playing a video games. First you learn the methodology, the right button for the action, the battle system, then you try to explore more, probably memorizing the combo or something. Finally, you try to understand everything all over again, say so you can develop a killer tactics, if you are into those Starcraft II like games.

Anyway, learn, unlearn, relearn. Not just applied for gaming purposes only. In real life, this is also a valid thought. Everyday, if I happen to not in the lazy mode, I will try to write back everything that I learn from class into my notebook. In the process I unlearn everything that I learn in lecture. Then I post almost every note I get in class onto my wall, pardon, not my facebook wall, but my wall in my room. That way I'll relearn everything Insyaallah each time I sat down on my study table and looks at those oddly attractive colored notes. I'm not trying to be a jackass but who knows, another men meat could possibly be another meat too.

Academic writing class. A place to sleep, learn, think and urhh get ideas for blog post. Probably.

p/s: Hungry!!!! haha.

Connecting people.

I guess most of you people have heard about this. Nokia tagline? Pretty much a yes. So simple yet does makes a lot of sense, and thinking too.

Today I have a Academic Writing class. A class, obviously to learn and polish more of my writing skills. And today unlike any other normal day, the class was held for 3 hours. Let me spell it to you, THREE FREAKING HOUR, IN THE MORNING. The lecturer is okay, in fact much better than previous English lecturer but then combine together with the monday blue and also the morning dilemma( idk why I use this word :s) makes everyone so sleepy, maybe not all lah but I can say most of them. Still, what my Academic writing class have to do with connecting people? Right. The lecturer, Pn. Arfah were talking about writing, how word can make a great influence then I stumble across a point,

"Writing should be about connecting people, people who reads your works."

I was so stunned by the phrase. I even copied exactly what she says. Really, have you ever though of connecting people that is on the other end of the screen as you were writing your blog post?? Really? Don't lie.

Anyway, it's time for Sports News. I just recently joined roboCamp, a camp for making robot lah. I was more interested in the Fabrication department, mainly anything that got to do with building the robot. I didn't involve in the wiring and all those programming shit.

So that is all update from me for now. Classes was great. I had a lot of relaxing time in Statics class. Yeah, that is all.
